Christmas - the Message of Hope

We would like to wish all our clients and professional connections a very Happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. We thank you for your business and the trust you have placed in us throughout the year.

The constant background noise of the Brexit debate is still with us and now coming to the fore. However, regardless of which side of the debate we are on, we all have some common hopes and aspirations.

According to Wikipedia, ‘Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one's life or the world at large’.

‘Hoping for the Best’, sounds so negative, as if preparing for the worst, but true hope is a positive force, particularly when it leads to faith.

Despite the political mantras, that eventually bypass our consciousness, in truth, all most people want is summed up in the favoured festive toast, ‘Health, Wealth and Happiness’ for themselves and their families.

Dickens’s A Christmas Carol entered popular culture in 1843 with the main protagonist, Scrooge, forced to face up to the reality of the negative imprint he was leaving on his world and the people that his ‘Bah Humbug’attitude was affecting.

It is not selfish to want the best for our families and friends and to hope and pray for peace in the world, but, in the midst of our celebrations, it is incumbent upon us think of those less fortunate and consider the impact that our words and actions have.

So, let’s raise a glass together and resolve to be part of the change we desire.

I repeat my sentiment expressed last year; ‘Kindness is not just for Christmas’, it should be a lifestyle; so, I resolve to try to make a difference and be kind, be positive and be content.

For any of our clients, friends and associates who have personal difficulties to bear at this time, we trust that you will have the ‘peace of the season’.

Best Wishes to you all from the team at Odyssey.
